Aftercare

After 3–5 hours, gently remove the bandage and wash the area with warm water and mild soap. Allow it to air dry for 5–10 minutes. Do not re-bandage.

Once the tattoo is completely dry, apply a thin layer of A&D Ointment 3–4 times a day for the next 2 days. After the second day, switch to an unscented, water-based lotion such as Lubriderm (or equivalent) and continue use until the skin returns to its normal condition—typically 2–3 weeks.

If redness or irritation occurs, switch to Bacitracin.

Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds until the tattoo is healed (at least 10–15 days). Do not soak the tattoo in baths, saunas, hot tubs, or while swimming during the healing process. Showers are fine.

Do not rub or pick at the tattoo while it heals, as this can cause color loss and/or infection. Avoid tight or restrictive clothing over the area, as it may cause irritation or stick to the tattoo. If sticking occurs, gently wet the area to loosen the fabric before removing, then wash and reapply lotion.

Over time, sun exposure can fade your tattoo. Protect it by using a strong sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher).
